Shailey Gupta-Brietzke grew up in Missouri City, Texas (a Houston suburb), and attended Texas A&M University. In 2007, Shailey graduated from South Texas College of Law and was licensed to practice law in the state of Texas later that year. She obtained a Ford Foundation grant to partner with Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse to work with victims of domestic abuse in the greater Houston area, where she provided pro bono legal representation to domestic abuse survivors. Shailey learned here that she was a litigator and handled a large number of cases and contested hearings in all stages of litigation.
Shailey then went to work at the Harris County Domestic Relations Office, as an Enforcement Attorney. While she learned the ins and out of enforcement cases, she also became board certified in family law by the Board of Legal Specialization and joined Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists. Shailey also joined the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section during this time. Ms. Gupta-Brietzke then moved to private practice, where she worked for a high volume family law firm. She handled divorces, child custody cases, modifications of existing orders, enforcements of orders in all stages of litigation in the greater Houston area. Shailey excelled at providing compassionate direct representation for clients at their most vulnerable. Shailey accepted an appointment as the Associate Judge for the 309th Judicial Family District Court on January 1, 2019. Shailey comes to Carter Morris, LLP with a wealth of experience, and we are happy to have her with us to best serve our clients.
